Three Taps Takes Me Home
I’ve always felt a connection to Dorothy, her desire to find the magic, the places she stumbled her way into, and the scrappy pack of friends that kept her company. From the opening credits to the final curtain closing out the movie, Dorothy had a wander in her soul, and song, that kept her walking the yellow brick road to more. More excitement and more uncertainty.
But on the other end of all things wanderlust and the quest for something, is the lesson of the journey and the meaning of it all. Early on I realized, maybe the greatest lesson I will have learned from my time away, is how fortunate I am to have a home, and family, to come back to. That doesn’t hit me lightly, in fact it pushes me straight to the chest causing me to catch myself, and my breath.
My yellow brick road took me from the concrete of Nashville, to the cobblestone of Scotland, the sands of Malta, and beyond. And so, after five weeks, I tapped the heels of my tennis shoes together three times, boarded the 9th flight, and went home <3
