On A Quest For Somewhere
That’s where I am; on a quest for somewhere. Today was the first day of full on sunshine since I arrived to Malta. The last two days it rained like I have never seen rain before. What I imagine the rain forest must be like, but more. The streets flooded, power was out for a while, and jellyfish washed up ashore. The kelp forest looked like it changed its mailing address from Med Sea, to sidewalk.
Today however, it was full on sun! I started walking to the capital of Valletta today, but after about 30 minutes realized it wasn’t a very walkable distance. Well let me rephrase that, the distance was walkable, just not the pavement. Where the sidewalk ended I turned around and went back to Marsaskala. Next, Uber was called. Next next, Dramamine was swallowed and an Americano was ordered. Jumped in the Uber, and off I went! Valletta was straight out of a ‘James Bond’ chasing scene. Ancient Spanish buildings with colorful doors lined every street, with a gelato counter on every corner. It was a day to indulge all my senses. Seeing the blue Mediterranean Sea, tasting the fresh bread, smelling the bao buns, listening to a local street band, and feeling the sun on my face; I indulged.
Now, back home in my house swap home, I’m off to feed the kitties, and watch the next episode of Physical 100 (if you haven’t watched it yet, it’s a must see!) I heard there is a Super Bowl party at a little bar down the road - I’m going to try and convince myself to break out of my shell and go tomorrow :) I’ll report back.
