Your Time is Any Time
Too often we think we’re behind in life. A fictitious timeline we think we need to check off as we get older. I’m sure you’ve heard it before, or read in other places, but I’ve come to learn - THERE IS NO TIMELINE.
Get married when you get married, or don’t.
Have a kid when you have a kid, or don’t.
Figure out what you want to be when you grow up at 33, 65 or 98.
It’s as simple as that, but the simplest things are the hardest to do. I know that first hand. I’ve never been one to feel the pressure of a being in a relationship or building a family, but the squeeze is present and TIGHT every hour of every day to figure out who, and what, I want to be when I grow up.
It used to be a country singer (sometimes it still is), other times a caretaker for rescued chimps in the African bush. It changes a lot, but it also stays the same. Like you, I’m built of experiences, emotions, loves, passions and adventures. All of these shape my soul, and influence how I spend my time. It’s taken a minute, over 7 years, but I’m finally easing into not knowing. Our life can be whatever we make of it, and whatever we dream it to be. There are obstacles you will face that I won’t, and vice versa, but I truly believe we have the power to shape our lives.
Don’t let outside forces, or voices, push you to the edge. The ‘timeline’ isn’t real. It’s as fake as silicone boobs! It’s there for some, but doesn’t have to be for others.
I hope we can all chase our wildest dreams without hesitation, ‘what we should’, or guilt. No matter your choice, the way your live your life, just know, it’s right for YOU.
love, Emily
